Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how VerLanguage ("Application"), a mobile app created by Brandon Michael Lim and operated by Coding Minds, Inc. ("Service Provider", "we", "us", or "our"), collects, uses, shares, retains, and deletes information when you download and use the Application. The Application is provided as a free service and is intended for use "AS IS".
By downloading, accessing, or using the Application, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Application.
Information We Collect
Depending on how you use the Application, we may collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: If you create an account or sign in, we collect your email address and authentication credentials managed through Firebase Authentication. If you use Google Sign-In, we receive basic profile information provided by Google (such as your email address).
- Activity information: For signed-in users, we store aggregate activity metrics in Google Cloud Firestore, such as daily session counts, daily emotion-detection counts, login streaks, and dates of last activity. We do not store facial images in your account profile.
- Device and usage information: We may automatically receive standard technical information such as device type, operating system version, app version, and general usage events needed to operate and improve the Application.
- Facial image data: When you use Photo Detector or Video Detector, the Application may capture or access images from your device camera or photo library that may include your face. See the dedicated section below for full details.
We do not collect precise device location. The Application does not request or use GPS or other location services.
Facial Image Data
This section explains how VerLanguage collects, uses, shares, retains, stores, and deletes facial image data, as required for apps that use face-related features.
What face data we collect
When you use Photo Detector or Video Detector, the Application may capture or access camera images or photo-library images that include your face. This data consists of ordinary photographs or video frames that may depict your facial expression.
We do not collect:
- Facial geometry or facial recognition templates
- Biometric identifiers used for identity verification
- Apple Face ID data or TrueDepth face maps
- Voice recordings for emotion analysis in the current version of the Application
How we use face data
Facial image data is used only for the following purposes within the Application:
- To analyze visible facial expressions and classify detected emotions (for example: Happiness, Sadness, Anger, Surprise, Fear, or Neutral)
- To display in-app emotion-detection results and brief explanatory feedback to you
- To support your learning experience related to emotional awareness
We do not use facial image data for advertising, marketing profiling, identity verification, surveillance, or any purpose unrelated to in-app emotion detection.
How face data is processed and stored
- On your device: Photos you choose or capture may remain in your camera roll or temporary app storage until you delete them or end your session. Temporary video frames captured during live detection are deleted from device storage after analysis.
- On our servers: Images are transmitted over HTTPS to a Firebase Cloud Function for processing. Our servers do not permanently store facial images. Images are processed transiently for analysis and then discarded.
- Analysis output: The Application receives emotion labels, confidence scores, and short text insights. For signed-in users, only aggregate counts (not images) may be stored in Firestore.
Sharing of face data with third parties
To provide emotion analysis, facial image data is shared with the following service providers only as needed to perform analysis:
- Google Firebase (Cloud Functions): Receives image data transiently to relay analysis requests securely. Firebase processes data according to Google's terms and security standards.
- OpenAI: Receives image data through our Cloud Function to perform vision-based emotion analysis. OpenAI processes the data to return analysis results and does not receive your account password.
We do not sell facial image data. We do not share facial image data with third parties for their independent advertising or marketing purposes.
Third-party protection commitment: Any third party with whom we share facial image data is required, through contractual and platform safeguards, to protect that data with protections that are the same as or equal to those described in this Privacy Policy, including limitations on use, transient processing where applicable, and appropriate security measures.
Retention of face data
- Server-side images: Not retained after processing is complete.
- Device-side images: Retained only until you delete them, remove app permissions, uninstall the Application, or until temporary video frames are deleted automatically after analysis.
- Account activity metrics: If you are signed in, aggregate usage counts may be retained while your account remains active.
Deletion of face data and revoking consent
You can limit or stop our collection and use of facial image data at any time:
- Stop using detection features: Do not open Photo Detector or Video Detector.
- Revoke camera or photo access: In your device Settings, disable Camera and/or Photos permissions for VerLanguage.
- Delete photos on device: Remove any photos saved to your camera roll or device storage.
- Delete your account: Signed-in users can delete their account from Profile Settings in the Application. This deletes associated Firestore activity data tied to your account.
- Uninstall the Application: Uninstalling stops further collection of information through the Application and removes local app data from your device, subject to your device operating system behavior.
To request deletion of account-related data that you cannot remove in the app, contact us at hello@codingmind.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact hello@codingmind.com and we will take appropriate action.
Security
We use reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS) for image analysis requests and server-side storage of API credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention (Non-Face Data)
We retain account and activity information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Application. If you delete your account or request deletion, we delete or anonymize associated account data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.
Your Choices
- You may use some features without creating an account.
- You may revoke device permissions at any time in system settings.
- You may delete your account from within the Application.
- You may stop all collection by uninstalling the Application.
